Services and performs basic landscape gardening maintenance working with a crew and/or alone.

The position requires a valid and current California driver's license, Class C, with a satisfactory DMV record in the past 3 years (no more than two, 1 point moving violations).

Gardener responsibilities include monitoring the health of all plants and green scapes, watering and feeding plants, trimming trees and shrubs, fertilizing and mowing lawns, weeding gardens, and keeping green spaces and walkways clear of debris and litter. The gardener should know how to use and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and fertilizers while following health and safety regulations.

Physical demands are equivalent to a landscape maintenance technician using the equipment and tools required to perform the job:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 75 – 100 lbs., with assistance, occasionally
  • Push, pull, bend, squat, and kneel regularly
  • Use landscape tools that require lifting overhead (light tree and hedge pruning)
  • Use a variety of manual, gas, and battery-powered gardening equipment such as, but not limited to, the following: Mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, pole trimmers, and pruners, etc.
